Many schools have struggled with Apple’s latest update to iOS6. While there are certainly a lot of glitches, there are also some great new benefits. Here are a few lessons-learned and discoveries from the past few weeks.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. WiFi Settings Moved –<\/strong> just in case you’ve been looking for it, instead of being under\u00a0General<\/em>, it’s now in the left menu inside settings just below the Airplane Mode switch.<\/li>\n
  2. Some Location Services Options are now under Privacy –\u00a0<\/strong>apps that access the Photo Roll now ask for authorization. However, if you decline, then some other apps don’t work as well. For example, some teachers in a workshop could not save their DoodleCast Kids screen casts to the camera roll. Turns out that we had to go into Settings>Privacy>Photos and then turn on access.<\/li>\n
  3. Speak Selection now highlights –\u00a0<\/strong>This is a great new feature! Go into Settings>General>Accessibility>Speak Selection and turn on highlighting. Then, when reading the text, the words will also be high lighted.<\/li>\n
  4. The iMovie Trailer Update now lets you insert photos –\u00a0<\/strong>with the latest iMovie update, it’s now possible to include still photos in trailers and use the Ken Burns effect. This is a fantastic addition and makes the app work more like the Mac program.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    iBrainstorm – Shared Brainstorming on iPads<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
